“As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7)
Many times I have preached that one’s attitude determines his altitude. How much a person achieves in life will be based on his ability to kep a positive, productive attitude. …
Did you know that faith comes from attitude? Attitude can be either positive or negative. Positive attitudes attract faith to us. Negative attitudes attract fear to us. In either case, our attitudes are producers. Our attitudes produce on the outside what they are on the inside of us. Positive attitudes cause good things to happen to us.
Someone might think if something good happens to him because of his attitude, “Well, that’s just a coincidence or luck.” No, it’s not coincidence. It’s a guarantee! The law of Genesis says “everything produces after its own kind.” (Genesis 1:12) Positive attitudes produce positive experiences. We call them blessings.
Negative attitudes produce negative experiences. We call them curses, or some say bad luck.
Many of us are programmed into a positive or negative thought-life by our upbringing. If our parents were positive thinkers, most likely we are positive thinkers. The opposite also is true. Even though we are a product of our environment, this does not mean we cannot redirect our thought-life and direction. Needless to say, if something is hurting us we should stop it. If our thought-life is hurting us, it needs to be redirected.
How can one do this? It begins by monitoring our words. If we are talking negative, we are thinking negative. Jesus said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Whatever we are full of, that is what we talk about. If we are full of worries, concerns, fears, anger, bitterness, rejection, etc., that is what we talk about. If we are full of hope, optimism, joy, happiness, contentment, faith, etc., that is what we talk about.
Our attitude determines our perspective on things. To one, a mountain (problem) is an obstacle, a barrier, an impossible situation; to another, the same mountain is an opportunity to excel, a road to some greater height. What we think about the mountain in our heart is the way we will talk about it, either positively or negatively. Mountains are no more or less than what they are: mountains. One’s attitude about the mountain determines if something good can come from the climbing experience. The mountain does not make or break us. It is our attitude about the mountain that makes or breaks us. There are mountains and there are attitudes about the mountains.
If a person determines he has an attitude problem, there is something he can do. Each of us knows someone who is an optimist. Each of us knows someone who is an overachiever. Ask yourself the question: “How would he be talking if he were in my situation?” After thinking on this, try to respond as your positive friend would respond.
Another way to reverse a negative attitude is to listen to positive testimony. There are many around us who have incurred similar situations and achieved success. Follow their advice. Learn from their experience.
Take time to read positive information. …
Associate with winners. A winner in my book is someone who never quits, someone who searches out every positive possibility and acts on it. A winner will find a way to win. If we associate with winners, their thinking will rub off on us. A winner only truly begins winning when he wins in the arena of the mind, not the arenas of the world. A winner’s attitude determines his outcome.
I believe there are many people who only need a little push in their thought-lives to become winners. Can I give you a little push today? You’re better off than you think. Don’t quit! You are on the verge of a miracle. …
Remember, your attitude determines your altitude.
